Key Features
Based on an original 1606 from Aerosmith's guitarist Joe Perry, the new Supro 1606S Super 1x8 Combo is an authentic reproduction. It honestly doesn't get much simpler. Two inputs (low and high gain) and a volume knob. Using a one-knob amp and the volume pot on your guitar you can easily recreate those classic Blues tones of the -60s which are stunningly sweet to hear.
The Supro 1606 is loaded with an SS8 loudspeaker that was designed by Eminence and based on an early 1960's Jensen. This was possible because of the help of Iowas State University which allows this amp to exude beautiful vintage tone. Half of the fun of this amp is pushing its limits. Cranking this amp and throwing a boost pedal in front of it elicits a fuzzy and sputtering drive. It's harmonically rich and distinct compared to anything else on the market.

Supro has a pre-war history that that was part of the company’s origins as one Americas first tube amp manufacturers and know what makes a good amp. This was designed with no extra passive components in place, that means no tone, no FX loop - nothing. This was to obtain the purest tone possible, and in doing so, welcomes you to one of the most sensitive and (when pushed) powerful overdrives you will experience. When you utilise your volume on your guitar, there is a wealth of true class A tones, the volume sweep is one massive 'sweet spot' - wherever you end up landing on the dial. This is a high gain amplifier that is dressed to the nines with tone. Simply put, it will blow you away.
The tone is huge, gritty and with tons of personality. When mic’d up, you will hardly need to do any EQ, if at all. This is because you are not carving the sound for the amp to sit in the mix, it instantly sounds massive because nothing is taken away. You can also combine this amp with Supro’s 1605R to double the gain of the amplifier - taking the tone of the 1605R to new levels. It's no secret that small amps are used for recording huge guitar tones.
The 1605S is light enough to easily carry around. It also has a well-made carrying handle which makes it comfortable when you are transporting it. In a world filled with amp stacks and back pain, you will be seeing your friends trade in their amp rigs once they have listened to you play through this little box.
