The Hexinverter VCNO VC Noise Oscillator uses a unique noise algorithm and topology to achieve the unique tone and character. The VCNO VC Noise Oscillator is ideal for a range of applications from noise generation to modulation, sound design and more. The LFSR (Linear Feedback Shift Register) is comprised of discrete analog parts and logic ICs, eliminating the need for software of microcontrollers. As well as being able to generate the full white noise spectrum, the VCNO VC Noise Oscillator can be used like a VCO. The VCO capabilities allows you to modulate the pitch over CV, using its range of outputs simultaneously. Each output will boast its own unique harmonic character, resulting in rough and complex tones that can be used for a variety of purposes.
One of the most unique features of the VCNO VC Noise Oscillator module is the Pitch input. This allows you to modulate the frequency of the module via CV, by patching any CV signal into the jack. The bipolar attenuverter provides precision control of your level and polarity for your CV signal. The rear of the module features a switch allowing you to toggle between logarithmic or linear responses. A Clock input is also included, bypassing the internal Pitch frequency generator. This allows you to apply a clock from a trigger sequencers to create random trigger patterns.
Each of the three ‘alternative’ outputs feature varied circuits for added versatility. The Screech output provides a dark and gritty overtone to the main Noise output. The Sizzle output includes a related control, resulting in a vinyl-like crackle when turned anti-clockwise. When turned clockwise, the Sizzle output provides pure white noise. The Tear output rips apart the algorithm, resulting in broken and glitch sounds.
