The Limited Edition PRS features a body crafted from koa, a tonewood that's usually reserved for their private stock acoustics. Koa offers the perfect blend between crisp tones and warm, Thick characteristics. It's usually described as offering the best of both maple and rosewood, but don't let that fool you into thinking it can't deliver its own unique performance. The more you play, the richer and sweeter your tone will become.
Along with the koa back and sides, its classic spruce top also offers more tonal characteristics the longer it's played. Couple that with its incredible broad dynamic range and you get a strong fundamental tone. Its incredible depth and textures will suit anything your throw at it, and the contrasting colours between the spruce and koa creates something quiet magical.
The SE's Angelus ''Angel'' body shape is designed with comfort in mind. It's smooth contours and shape offers a familiar feel that's perfect for fingerpicking and plectrum playing styles. Beneath its surface lies PRS' unique hybrid bracing. This uses a traditional ''X'' bracing at the soundhole and a fan bracing across the belly to enhance the overall projection. This is achieved since the top is allowed to vibrate more freely than with traditional bracing, resulting in more volume and a rounder tone.
This SE Series Electro Acoustic also features a mahogany neck with a wide fat profile. This design offers an incredibly comfortable playing feel, with its wide, rounded shape letting you reach easily across the entire ebony fingerboard. Couple that with the Angelus's cutaway design and you get uninterrupted access to all the frets, letting you go straight from striking blues chords to killer solos on the higher frets.
To deliver the perfect performance for the stage and studio, the PRS SE Angelus is equipped with Fishman electronics. The G1 system uses an undersaddle pickup to capture the beautifully natural tones of the koa and spruce woods, faithfully reproducing the sound and adding an extra helping of projection to satisfy even the largest of venues. A discreet soundhole control panel lets you adjust the volume and tonal characteristics of your sound without distracting from the AE270EBG's beautiful aesthetic.
Like many guitars from PRS, the attention to detail featured on the ebony fingerboard is simply eye-catching. The selection of birds which make up PRS’ iconic inlays include representations of the following species; peregrine falcon (3rd fret), marsh hawk (5th fret), ruby throated hummingbird (7th fret), common tern (9th fret), Coopers hawk (12th fret), kite (15th fret), sparrow (17th fret), storm petrel (19th fret), and a landing hawk (21st fret).
Launched in 1985 by Paul Reed Smith, PRS guitars offer an alternative approach to achieving excellence. Their unique approach to the design and build of their guitars has found them a distinct sound that has become a hallmark for hard rock. The slightly wider necks are ideal for technical guitarists who require space while scaling the fretboard.
As well as exceptional tone, PRS’ guitars have become famed for their stunningly intricate finishes. The bird inlays, distinctive colours and signature headstocks have inspired guitarists globally since their first production. The selection of ranges offers something to every style and budget. For guitarists looking for reliable and long lasting tone, PRS is an ideal choice.
