Rather than using conventional distortion techniques such as staged-limiting, compression and saturation, the A-189-1 takes a different approach. Using Bit manipulation and sample-rate adjustments in 16 different modes, there are a wealth of flavours you can add to your tracks to help them sound on the edge of exploding. A non-subtle module, the A-189-1 is meant to be heard. Each of the 16 modes offers a variation on the character and flavour of your distortion, allowing you to find something for virtually any source in your track. Where the type of distortion character is explained through complex equations and mathematical adjustments to your signal, the outlying fact remains that some will give you a more robust, low-mid push, others will give you a knife-like cutting tone to sit above dense mixes.
