Key Features
The Shakmat Dual Dagger is a highly flexible and versatile filtering module that includes both low and high pass 24dB per octave filtering as well as a link mode to run your module in 48dB per octave bandpass mode. Featuring independent controls over the frequency sweep for both low and high-pass filters allows you to dial in the exact range you need to tame harsh harmonics or sculpt out unruly low end within your signal. Also present is a highly flexible resonance dial that is linked to both filters to add extra grit and overdrive to your signals.
Presented in an extremely compact 6HP module, the Dual Dagger is the ultimate tool for sound designers in modular Eurorack format. With a total of four filters split into two stereo channels per filter, there is a huge range of flexibility to carve out your signals to fit your mix, or to use as a creative tool for effective tension building within cinematic soundscapes. Unique to the Dual Dagger, the filters can be distributed in the stereo field via control voltage using the Pan inputs, letting you set the filter cutoff frequency within the stereo field for mid-side processing. CV inputs for each of the three controls allow you to adjust your filters externally within your Eurorack synthesizer for a seamless and smooth transition of tones with your Dual Dagger module.

One of the most crucial aspects of any modular Eurorack synthesizer is the filtering module, often overlooked and underappreciated, your filter module can completely reinvent your sound and tone. A versatile high-pass filter section gives you a wide range for frequency sweeping to fine-tune in your sound, letting you filter out the rumble and get your track to cut through any deep mix with a gritty resonance control to add character and harmonics.
Similarly, the low-pass filter section has a large frequency sweep to ensure you can pinpoint the exact range of your filtering to fit your track to your mix. The included resonance control lets you add a huge amount of weight and energy to your sound that will help fill out the low-end and get your crowd dancing. Both filter's resonances will not self-oscillate when driven hard, meaning you can push them as hard as you want to get the exact sound you want.
With the ability to be used as both a low and high-pass filter, the Dual Dagger is already an extremely versatile filtering module with sweepable frequency per channel to hone in the precise level of filtering. Not only that, but the Dual Dagger features a link dial to turn your high and low pass filtering into a powerful eight order stereo bandpass filter with CV controls over frequency and bandwidth. When engaged, the Link function makes the low-pass filters follow the high-pass filters, turning the 24dB per/octave filters into one 48dB per/octave stereo bandpass. The high-pass control is now the bandpass frequencies and the low-pass controls the bandwidth of the filter, giving you a wide range of filtering options to completely change the character and tone of your signal.
Don't be fooled into thinking that Dual Dagger is exclusively a filter and filter only, thanks to the versatile design elements, you can use the Shakmat Dual Dagger in a host of creative ways to add flavour to your sound design. You can sum a mono sound source such as a basic sawtooth wave and mix both outputs to create a double peak high and low pass filter, engaging the resonance and sweeping with the pan knob will control the frequency range between the two peaks.
Easily transform a sine wave into a custom-tuned kick drum for your performance by mixing both outputs and using the pan input to detune the waveform with a high resonance setting, creating a thunderous, full-bodied and clean kick drum that you can process further down your modular Eurorack synth.
Combine the Dual Dagger with the Shakmat Sum Dif to open up the possibilities to mid-side stereo processing. Here, you can explore unconventional panning effects while using the pan section to offset the cutoff frequency of the centre panned signal.
