Utilising cutting-edge technology created by ‘THAT Corporation’, the Drawmer 1972 provides two ultra-clean microphone preamps within the two-channel configuration. The dual mic preamps provide natural and transparent sound reproduction, allowing you to capture every nuance of your performance with exceptional sonic accuracy. The mic pres provide a whopping 66db of gain in stepped intervals of 6db each. There is also an additional +/-12dB trim available at the output.
As well as the mic pres, the 1972 also features separate line/mic input XLRs located on the rear of the unit. You can also process and record instruments using the premium-grade DI input on the front panel. From ribbon and tube mics to handheld dynamic microphones, the Dramwer 1972 can process virtually any sound source and get the best out of it.
The one feature that makes the 1972 stand out from the crowd is its unique ‘Lift’ control. Acting as a low-level gain parameter, the Lift control is perfect for low-level sound source. It retains the natural tonality and transparent sound of your source whilst ensuring every nuance is heard. Ideal for highly dynamic recordings, the Lift control is effective for use with pianos, vocals and ambience.
Post-processing can be tedious and can bring out unwanted artefacts and frequencies that can change the overall sound. This is why it is paramount to get the best possible recording from the source, minimising the need to alter the sound during post production. The Drawmer 1972 features LoCut and HiCut controls which allow you to shape your sound before/while you record. You can remove unwanted low-end rumble or minimise high-end hiss using the two, high-precision rotary controls. An additional control – ‘Shape’ allows you to subtly bring out bass/treble frequencies with the onboard tilt EQ.
Drawing inspiration from classic hardware, the 1972 features a retro-style design with a rackmountable chassis – perfect for the studio. The two backlit analog VU meters allow you to monitor your levels at a glance, complete with a switchable +10dB rescale mode for added flexibility. It provides support for a wide range of gear, with the 1972 featuring both Phantom Power and Phase Reverse. The internal low-hu, toroidal linear power supply features a voltage selector switch for maximum compatibility.
