Variable Preamp

One of the most unique features of the Tegeler Audio Vari Tube Recording Channel VTRC is its variable preamp that allows you to switch between different settings for different tone palettes. You can achieve everything from a clear and clean sound ranging to a warm, vintage tone utilising the vari-tube circuitry. The built-in passive equalizer is built around the Pultec principle, allowing you to subtle, soft air to our recording, giving your vocals more volume; or filter out disruptive frequencies in certain frequency bands. The combination of the vari-µ and opto compressor gives you an extended sound-spectrum with an exceptional compressed sound.

Exceptional Audio Fidelity

The Tegeler Audio Vari Tube Recording Channel VTR features Class-A Circuitry, suited to the vintage sound of the Vari-Tube Compressor and Opto Compressor alike, driving the immense tones it delivers. The wide frequency response (20Hz-20kHz) ensures you capture every nuance of the original audio as it was intended, resulting in optimal audio quality. The transformer balanced inputs and outputs also ensure the best possible sound and the true 48V Phantom Power allows you to utilise condenser microphones for studio-grade recordings. Also features is a phase switch and a high-impedance instrument input for recording including electric guitars.

Opto Compressor

The Opto Compressor allows you to add softer compression to your sound, helping to retain the natural harmonic of your source material, while complimenting its ‘sweet spots’ in each frequency band. The Opto Compressor is regulated by the amplification, dependant on how hard the amplification is hitting, the Opto Compressor will react accordingly.

Vari-Tube Compressor

The built-in Vari-Tube Compressor is a more ‘in your face’ compression setting, directly influencing the overall amplification of your audio. It helps your source audio to cut through even the densest of mixes, while ensuring it retains its natural warmth.

Presets

The Tegeler Audio Vari Tube Recording Channel VTRC features a range of on-board presets that allows you to quickly access and sample the range of sounds and tones the unit produces. Presets include: Vocals, Plucked Guitar, Contraguitar, Bass and Saxophone; each with varying settings and sounds directly suited to their namesakes. These presets can help to get you where you need to be with certain source audio, such as turning on the Vocals preset to get a range of settings suited towards vocal performances, allowing you to tweak your settings to suit your own requirements.

Design & Construction

The vintage-style design of the Tegeler Audio Vari Tube Recording Channel VTRC is based from the classic compressor look from the 70s and 80s. The eye-catching and stylish blue finish is complimented by the 11 detented pots and rotary switches as well as the 10 smaller toggle switches. A vintage-style Vu meter gives you instant visual feedback on your input levels, with all the pots and switches featuring a glossy black finish. The all-metal chassis ensures maximum durability, standing at 3U in size, with the built-in rack ears allowing you to mount the unit with ease.
