Unity Audio's 'The Rock' MkII is manufactured to a high standard using quality materials. To add density, mass and rigidity to the design, the front baffle is made from Corian and then bonded to a plywood baffle. A unique cabinet bracing system is used to stop flexing, in conjunction with a closed cab design for a more accurate, smoother, deeper bass response, constructed from top grade 12mm, 9 ply Baltic Birch rather than cheaper, more commonly used MDF.
The Rock MkII features a folded ribbon tweeter, designed with a new neodymium magnet system, giving higher efficiency, superior linear frequency and phase response with smoother, less fatiguing results. The frequency response of the tweeters can reach as high as 50kHz resulting in the superior phase response.
A 180mm woofer with 0.2mm aluminium foil is chemically bonded to a rigid pulp fiber cone is featured on 'The Rock' MkII. This design eliminates harmonic anomalies and permits +/- 15mm of woofer travel resulting in accurate low bass frequencies, aiding in the life of the woofer and full accuracy of the driver through its life.
Esoteric Audio Research has designed a true 100 watt discrete bi-polar low feedback amplifier with custom wound transformers and dedicated LF & HF sections with overload protection, resulting in a very fast, clean and astoundingly accurate reproduction.
