The Doepfer A-183-2 is a simple voltage offset generator combined with a switchable attenuator/polarizer for the module's CV input. The module is equipped with two outputs, at which a DC voltage appears which can be adjusted using the offset control in the range of 0V to +5V, ot -5V to +5V. An internal jumper is used for selecting between these two offset ranges. Other ranges can be achieved by changing a resistor on the PCB. The DC voltage generated by the offset control is overlaid by the attenuated voltage that is fed to the input socket. The function of the attenuation control can be set using the Att./Pol. toggle switch. When set to Att., the control will work normally as an attenuator. This means zero level when set fully counter-clockwise, and maximum when fully clockwise. When set to Pol., the control will work as a polarizer, with zero level at the central position, right from the central position will add the input signal to the offset voltage, and left from the central position will subtract it. At fully clockwise in polarizer mode, the non-inverted input signal is added with the full level to the offset voltage, and at fully counter-clockwise the inverted input signal is added with full level to the offset voltage. The amplification range for the module's input is roughly 0 to +1 in attenuation mode, and -1 to +1 in polarization mode. The amplification range can also be modified by replacing a resistor on the PCB with a different value.
