Switchable polar pattern design
During your production or engineering sessions, you never know what challenge you may come across within your studio. It's therefore important to have a reliable selection of microphones that can adapt to any situation. With the ECM-47, you have every base covered with the inclusion of nine selectable polar patterns.
Ideal for studio application, the cardioid polar pattern allows you to capture exactly what's in front of your microphone and reject any sound from the sides or rear of the capsule. Cardioid polar patterns lend themselves to working with one single sound source, capturing the performance only and effectively reducing sound from the back and sides, however, the ECM-47 is perfectly suited to capturing multiple sources at a time in a live room.
Capture the full room ambience for a drum kit, ensemble or percussion set with the omnidirectional mode. This gives your sound a very natural and resolute sound that brings character and realism to your instruments. Also included is a figure of eight polar pattern, allowing you to capture in detail instruments in front and behind the capsule, ideal for capturing two sound sources simultaneously or for adding depth and realism to your dry recording.
