Its selectable cardioid, omnidirectional, and figure-8 polar patterns allow the microphone to adapt to very different jobs without swapping gear. Cleaner results with low-noise design

Quiet circuitry can make a real difference, particularly on exposed vocal takes, acoustic parts, and spoken recordings. The NT2A uses transformerless JFET electronics to keep self-noise down to a very low 7 dBA, helping finer details come through without extra hiss in the background.

The NT2A's capsule is also internally shock-mounted, which helps reduce vibration and handling noise before those sounds reach the recording. A selectable high-pass filter adds further control, with flat, 40 Hz, and 80 Hz options available on the microphone body. This helps reduce low-frequency rumble caused by traffic, air conditioning, foot movement, or mechanical vibration. Making these adjustments on the microphone itself can save time during tracking and reduce the need for corrective work later in the session.

The NT2A arrives with the accessories needed for a straightforward start. An SM6 shockmount with integrated pop filter is included to help manage plosives and reduce vibration during vocal takes.
