The MEC 1A is a comprehensive recording channel comprised of some of Tube-Tech's most revered designs. The MEC 1A is a culmination of different products including the MP1A Mic Preamp, EQ1 1A Active EQ and the CL2A Compressor. The three-in-one design features everything you need to get the best possible recording for both microphones and instruments. The microphone preamps features integrated +48V Phantom Power for condenser microphones. It is great for recording vocals, giving you that classic tube sound that is so sought-after. The active equalizer features three bands as well as 6 shelving frequencies for both the low and high range. It also provides bell-type Mid with 12 selectable frequencies and variable Q. The opto compressor features low distortion optical gain reduction as well as variable attack and release. It also boasts a built-in VU meter, allowing you to monitor your levels with ease.

All-Tube Design

The thing that sets the MEC 1A apart from other recording channels is its all-tube design. It features 7 tubes in total: 3 x ECC 81, 1 ECC 82 and 3 x ECC 83. The hand-picked tubes deliver exceptional warmth and tonal character ideal for everything from recording vocals to bass and guitars through the DI input. The Input and Output features fully floating transformers, as well as a tube operational amplifier for optimal audio fidelity and performance.

Comprehensive Controls

The comprehensive front-panel features a wide range of controls designed to give you full access at every step of your recording process. The mic preamp features a Phase Reverse switch allowing you to troubleshoot problematic signals. The -20dB attenuation pad is ideal for treating hotter signals, and the low-cut filter allows you to remove unwanted low-end rumble from vocal recordings and other inputs. The versatile equalizer can be used for shaping the tonality of your inputs, delivering studio-grade recordings. The opt compressor includes a 6-step ratio potentiometer ranging from 1.5:1 to 10:1. The opto compressor is also linkable allowing for stereo applications.

Robust & Rackmountable

The heavy-duty all metal construction provides a robust enclosure, with an eye-catching blue finish. The recording channel features a vintage-style reminiscent of outboard gear from the 80s. The retro-style potentiometers are all stepped for quick and easy access. Its accompanied by retro-style gold plated, switches as well as overload protection in the form of a large red LED light. The VU meter furthers adds to the vintage-aesthetic, providing classic-style level monitoring. It features a built-in sidechain circuit on the back with dual inputs. The power supply is fully regulated, complete with a toroidal transformer. The 2U rack-mountable design will perform perfectly in studio settings but is also suitable for recording live performances.
