Studio-quality audio wherever you go
The Zoom H6 Studio brings studio-level quality to portable recording. Its four preamps are derived from Zoom’s flagship F-Series recorders and offer extremely low self-noise at -127 dBu EIN. These preamps, paired with dual A/D converters and 32-bit float recording, provide 132 dB of dynamic range. This allows you to capture the full range of sound from whispers to jet-level volumes without clipping or added noise.
Built to perform in a wide range of environments, the H6 Studio ensures professional results whether you’re on location or in the studio. Supporting sample rates from 44.1 to 192 kHz, the recorder allows up to six individual tracks plus a stereo mix at up to 96 kHz, and six tracks at 192 kHz. The result is rich, detailed recordings that need minimal adjustment after the fact.
Advanced microphone and format control
The included XY mic capsule uses large 19.4 mm diaphragms positioned at a 90-degree angle. This stereo setup helps minimise phase cancellation and delivers a realistic image, particularly for ambient sound and live music. With a maximum SPL handling of 140 dB, these mics are robust enough to handle loud environments while preserving detail.
You can toggle between 32-bit float and traditional 16/24-bit formats using the dedicated format switch. This flexibility lets you choose between simple, gain-managed recordings or high-dynamic range files that can be corrected in post. Dedicated gain knobs allow hands-on control when needed, while “look-ahead” limiters ensure that peaks are controlled in real time.
Adaptable for any recording setup
The H6 Studio includes four XLR/TRS combo inputs with phantom power and +4dBu line-level support. These locking connectors ensure stable connections for microphones and instruments. A stereo mini-jack input is also provided and supports plug-in powered mics for smaller setups or on-camera applications.
For output, the H6 Studio includes a loud headphone jack, a line out for camera connections, and a built-in speaker for quick playback. Timecode support, available through accessories, allows integration into professional video workflows. You can also preview and monitor recordings visually with the full waveform view or switch to a classic level meter, depending on your preference.
Versatile digital interface and capsule expansion
The H6 Studio doubles as a 6-in/2-out USB audio interface, compatible with Mac, Windows, iOS and Android devices. You can record to your DAW and a microSD card at the same time, providing both live streaming capability and backup. The unit accepts microSDHC or microSDXC cards up to 2TB in size.
Zoom’s Capsule System 3.0 opens up further possibilities, including future support for dual-channel wireless systems, shotgun mics, and additional inputs. The accessory WLM-1 wireless capsule will offer expanded recording options once released. Compatibility with SSH-6e, EXH-6e and XYH-6e capsules means the system is already highly adaptable to different recording styles.
Practical tools and long battery life
Additional features include a low-cut filter, mono mode for dialogue, variable speed playback, and a tone generator for syncing audio with video. You can also normalise recordings and export them as 16 or 24-bit WAV files. The H6 Studio runs for up to 15 hours on four AA batteries and can also be powered by USB or the optional AC adapter.
The device is designed for accessibility with audible menu navigation in multiple languages, making it easy to operate for blind and visually impaired users. The optional accessory pack includes a hard shell case, hairy windscreen, USB-C cable and AC power adapter for a complete portable setup.
