The Conservatoire is built around solid carved tonewoods, with a spruce front and flamed maple used for the back, sides, and ribs. Its body is assembled using an inside mould, helping Stentor achieve fine detail and accuracy during construction. The maple neck is also finely carved, while the maple bridge and soundpost are carefully designed with playability in mind. Stentor individually thicknesses its instruments for sound quality and closely controls specifications and measurements at its own factory workshops, giving progressing players an instrument made to consistent standards.
Traditional details and a developed finish
Moving on from your first violin calls for an instrument that supports your continued progress. The Conservatoire uses ebony for its fingerboard, tuning pegs, nut, and saddle, alongside traditional inlaid purfling. Stentor's Shellax varnish completes the instrument – a finish developed by the company over many years. A composite tailpiece with integral adjusters also lets you make convenient fine tuning adjustments. The Conservatoire is aimed at intermediate players and above, and is often recommended by teachers as a step-up instrument for students ready to progress beyond their beginner violin.

Stentor produces its instruments in its wholly owned factory in Taixing, China, which it established over 25 years ago.
